Study Group on Subcontract Terms
Each month, ASATN hosts a Study Group on Subcontract Terms. During each one-hour session, participants focus on a single subcontract clause, review the legal issues involved with that clause, assess the practices in the Tennessee market, and learn workable negotiating strategies. The Study Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., at the training center of Stansell Electric. The Study Group is open only to ASATN members.
Education & Training
ASATN hosts regular workshops on topics that affect the bottom line of your company. ASATN's cutting-edge programs focus on topics such as negotiating subcontracts, prompt payment, risk allocation, business continuity, etc. These local workshops are free to ASATN members. At the national level, ASA offers regular webinars and teleconferences with which you can learn without ever leaving your desk.
Government Advocacy
ASATN is unlike any other organization you may know about or belong to. No where else will you find an organization willing to stand up for subcontractor rights. ASATN makes that that legislators and other decisionmakers hear the voice of subcontractors on key industry issues, such as mechanics liens, prompt payment, retainage, pay-if-paid clauses, risk allocation and others. In 2005, ASATN initiated and has passed the the elimination of contractual lien waivers. In 2006, ASATN successfully championed improvement in the State's prompt payment law. Now, ASATN is focusing on retainage reform.
Business Practices Interchange
Stop bidding in the Dark! ASATN's Business Practices Interchange (BPI) allows members to inequire about the business practices of customers and prospective customers. Obtain factual information on payment practices, project management, scheduling, contract terms, safety, and more about general contractors, construction managers, design professionals, and owners. The BPI is conducted monthly in conjunction with the Study Group on Subcontract Terms.
